About the event

Bland, underdeveloped supporting characters can feel like the bane of an actor’s existence. How are you supposed to stand out and show audiences and/or casting directors what you can do, and why they should love it, when you’re given so little to work with?

If you’re tired of waiting around for that “right part” to come along and want to learn how to turn every underdeveloped character into an opportunity to give a memorable performance that is uniquely you, then join us…

About this event

Join Holly Payberg-Torroija and Christy Poggi for this unique half day retreat where you’ll learn a series of storytelling techniques, that will help you create go-to characters you can use over and over again to imbue every role with bold, authentic choices that get you remembered. (Art Sake students receive 50% off. Reach out to Christy for discount code.)

What you can expect...

  • Quick intros and relaxation exercises to help set the creative space.
  • Discussions about how and why you should typecast yourself.
  • A mixture of fast paced writing and Meisner exercises designed to help you find and develop the go-to characters you were born to play.
  • Practice making bold choices in a mock-audition setting.

This event starts promptly. Dress comfortably. Bring your favorite notebook and pen and any refreshments you might need.
